ICP Bhithamore at a Glance

  • ICP Bhithamore is located in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar along the international border between India and Nepal.
  • The proposed ICP holds immense potential in terms of cross-border passenger movement due to two main reasons. First, it is in close proximity to the Buddhist Circuit Route. Second, the Sitamarhi-Bhithamore road connects Janakpur, which houses the 200-year-old Janki Temple and is considered as the birthplace of Goddess Sita.
  • In terms of cross-border cargo movement as well, the location of the proposed ICP holds immense potential as it is geographically well connected to Janakpur, which is the second largest province of Nepal.
  • The status as of September 2021 is that Detailed Project Report has been prepared and 26.42 acres of land has been identified for development of the ICP. Land acquisition done by the State Government of Bihar is in advance stage. Tender action has been initiated for appointment of Architectural Consultant & Project Management Consultancy
